Mendi Argia

Mendi Argia is a small and luxurious boutique hotel in the hills surrounding San Sebastián. It's an oasis of tranquility just outside the city, with a cozy and homey atmosphere, an air of grand accommodation and views of the sea and surrounding area that you just can't get enough of.

Located in a traditional Basque mansion, built in the early twentieth century, Mendi Argia has a gorgeous characteristic exterior. The interior is best described as retro-chic and could easily feature in interior design magazines. Wherever you look, you see earthy colors, plenty of natural light, and aged features. Additionally, the entire hotel boasts herringbone flooring and throughout the place you see unique accessories, such as the large statement mirror designed by Sabine Marcellis and Brit Van Nerven, which hangs prominently in the living room.

The spacious and lavish suites also have a retro-chic style, comfortable furnishings, and eye-catching accessories, but each one is slightly different. For instance, Suite Ulia features a large terrace and a freestanding bathtub with city views. Suite Ulia Familiar, besides a king-size bed, includes a sleeper sofa in the living room, where two children can sleep, and a balcony. Thus making it an excellent place to stay for families.

From Mendi Argia, you can go in any direction. Put on your hiking boots and explore the surrounding Ulía Natural Park, roll out a towel on the nearby Playa de Zurriola, or head towards Europe's best star-rated restaurants. Back in time

Mendi Argia was established at the beginning of the 20th century, as a family project of two brothers from Gernika, a small town near Bilboa. At the top of Ulia mountain, they created a beautiful boutique hotel with an intimate homely atmosphere. The kind where any stress immediately slips off as soon as you step over the threshold and where you are waited on hand and foot.

The 7 luxurious and spacious suites at Mendi Argia are decorated with a great sense of style and taste: herringbone parquet on the floors, floor-to-ceiling window sections, soft, earthy colors that perfectly match the environment, and retro-chic accents. Additionally, you'll find in the suites a super comfortable bed, a fluffy bathrobe, a flat screen, and a balcony or terrace with a view of the surroundings.

Monte Ulía

Once you step out the door at Mendi Argia, you enter a green oasis full of beautiful vistas. You are then in Monte Ulía. A nature park in the heart of the city and the largest hiking area in the hills of San Sebastián. Besides being able to take beautiful walks here, there are also plenty of places to picnic and there is an old viewpoint for whale spotting.
