Luxury boutique hotel with centuries-old vineyard in the hills of Piemonte
Looking for a special place far away from the crowd? Then Villa La Madonna is exactly what you're looking for. In this small-scale but luxurious boutique hotel of Swedish design sisters Marie and Annica Eklund, everything can and may run a gear slower, you are surrounded by peace and nature and enjoying the hospitality and the pure Italian food and famous wines from the Barolo region is the highlight of your stay!
Ever heard of slow living? This pleasant, slow-paced lifestyle, is one you will experience from day 1 in Villa La Madonna, with the emphasis on rest, enjoyment, and conscious choices. The beautiful surroundings play a star role. Everywhere you look you have an incredible view over the rolling hills, the Bormida valley, and the surrounding vineyards. Even when you're swimming laps in the pool, taking a yoga class, or opening the curtains of your room. By the pool, it's double the pleasure. All day long, the most delicious cocktails and aperitivo are prepared and delivered to your sunbed.
In addition, this luxury boutique hotel organizes various activities to get to know Piemonte better and to make you even more aware of the beautiful environment. You can cycle or walk through the vineyards, there are various wine workshops and tastings organized with a sommelier, you can follow a local cooking workshop or go on a truffle hunt.
When the evening falls in Villa La Madonna, candles are lit everywhere and the long tables are set for a fantastic dinner with mouthwatering and healthy dishes. Think, parmigiana di melanzane (grilled eggplant with tomato and mozzarella), linguine alla vongole, and gnocchi con crema di gorgonzola. Everything is handmade and almost only ingredients from the region are used. Want a bit of extra romance? There is also the possibility to book a private dinner in the middle of the vineyard.
When you have finished eating and you have tasted the various wines that have been traditionally made for hundreds of years on the land of Villa La Madonna, it's time to drift off to your beautiful room. A cozy space with authentic 17th century details, which Marie and Annica Eklund have given a modern twist to. Here too, you experience that endless peace and you can fully admire the beautiful landscape of the Piemonte...
The valley and the vineyards
Green hills, vineyards, and terracotta roofs - the Bormida valley in Piedmont, in the northwest of Italy, is a timeless place where life goes a gear slower. You notice this as soon as you arrive here, because oddly enough, you immediately get the urge to kick up your feet and enjoy the fabulous view of the valley and the surrounding vineyards with a glass of wine in hand.
Pleasant rooms with a homely atmosphere and beautiful view
Villa La Madonna has 16 tastefully decorated rooms. All with a terrace or balcony and a view of the beautiful landscape of Piemonte. The meticulous creation of the interior is reflected in every detail. From the well-chosen furniture and the handpicked accessories to the natural light coming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Dining among the grape bunches
Dining at Villa La Madonna is done in the Italian style: at beautifully set, long tables, and with fresh dishes made from traditional recipes. The cooking is simple, with just a few ingredients. But only the very best! Furthermore, everything is freshly made by hand; from the pasta and the tomato ragù to the roasted peppers from the oven with tuna and caper mayonnaise.
Discovering the vineyards
The area surrounding Villa La Madonna's vineyard stretches out with several beautiful walking trails. You can explore the area on your own, but you can also book a private tour at this House of Hideaways accommodation. Together with a guide, you will explore the most beautiful spots. Don't forget to take a picnic basket with you on the go - they will fill it for you at the hotel - and choose a nice spot to settle down for lunch.
