Rural getaway for couples with and without kids in Castillon du Gard

For those looking for a romantic, small-scale, and special stay during their holiday, Le Vieux Castillon is the perfect place. This rural hotel, built in 18 old village houses of a medieval village, has stylish and comfortable rooms, numerous 'secret' corners and terraces, and a gourmet restaurant. The tranquil swimming pool overlooks the Languedoc countryside and is surrounded by the ruins of a 10th-century castle.

In this authentic place situated between Nîmes and Avignon, you can fully enjoy the beauty around you. Settle down in one of the many cozy seats that can be found everywhere and see how the sun slowly disappears into the rolling countryside at the end of the day. Or step out the door and stroll through the medieval center of Castillon-du-Gard.

With its cobbled streets, ochre-colored facades, old watchtower, and the Romanesque chapel Saint-Christophe, you can soak up the past in no time and take the most beautiful photos for your Instagram. Moreover, there is much more beautiful sights to see in and around Castillon-du-Gard, such as the windmill, the old ruins, or the breathtaking view of the vineyards and the Pont du Gard.

But if you prefer not to leave Le Vieux Castillon, we completely understand. In this special place, you can truly relax and be yourself. Moreover, there is plenty to do: movie nights in the garden, enjoy a day of spa, try the tongue-pleasing dishes in the regionally highly acclaimed restaurant, swim with the picturesque surroundings in the background, or simply devour a few books on a sun lounger. There is also something for children. There is a pool table and a foosball table and a special children's menu is offered in the restaurant.

The spacious rooms of this unique House of Hideaways accommodation also invite you to cocoon. In addition to a comfortable bed, air conditioning, and a minibar, there is a Bose Bluetooth speaker in each room to listen to your music and a Nespresso machine to start each day with a delicious cup of coffee.

    The environment

From Le Vieux Castillon you can go in any direction: a nice walk or a terrace in the medieval town of Castillon-du-Gard, a visit to one of the many vineyards in the area, hiking and cycling through the Alpilles or going to the market in Uzès. There is so much beauty to discover that you can marvel every day. Both sports enthusiasts and nature lovers will find what they’re looking for in this place, as there is something for everyone.

Rooms you don't want to leave

As mentioned, the spacious rooms of Le Vieux Castillon are ideal for relaxation. All 34 are furnished with soft furniture and light colors, and offer all sorts of wonderful amenities to make your stay in this fantastic getaway more enjoyable. Think of a comfortable box spring with silky soft bed linen, a bottle of mineral water, and a bathroom with rain shower and wonderfully fragrant products from L'Occitane, which would make you want to stand under that warm and powerful jet for hours.

    Finger-licking good!

The accompanying restaurant La Table du Castillon serves creative and seasonal dishes composed by the young chef Benoît Dahai. During lunch, a two-course menu is available, and in the evening you can enjoy three courses and a cheese board! The roasted lamb fillet with rosemary is particularly cooked to perfection and you'll lick your fingers after the dessert of local fig yuzu sorbet.

Lounging and relaxing in the idyllic garden

The highlight of Le Vieux Castillon is undeniably the idyllic and leafy garden. It's a wonderful place to relax. It offers sun all day, but the plants also provide plenty of shady spots. On the many seats, you can comfortably lean back with a snack and a drink. Especially on the new patio with cushions, and Berber footstools, you can completely relax.

Le Vieux Castillon is located in the south of France, in Gard de la Loire to be precise. One of the 5 departments of the Languedoc-Roussillon region. When you step out the door, you are in the heart of the medieval center of Castillon. You are also close to the Alpilles, the vineyards, and the famous Pont du Gard.
