Charming guesthouse on a popular vineyard in the Emilia-Romagna region

The charming hideaway Roncolo 1888 is one of those places that as a wine enthusiast and culinary lover, you've always dreamed of. This atmospheric and small-scale guesthouse, located in the hills of Emilia-Romagna, is part of one of the best and most famous vineyards in this gastronomic Italian region.

It all started in 1976 when Venturini Baldini Winery was established on a historic estate between the cities of Parma and Reggio Emilia. Venturini Baldini quickly became a proud producer of premium wines made organically, in combination with modern technology and centuries-old tradition.

Because the owners of Venturini Baldini Winery, Julia Prestia and her husband Giuseppe, wanted to show people around their operations, they opened the wine domain to curious visitors. And successfully so—more and more people wanted to see, hear, and taste how they make their famous Lambruscos and other sparkling wines, prompting Julia and Giuseppe to transform one of the buildings on the estate into a guesthouse.

When you stay at Roncolo 1888, you really get the feeling that you are living alongside the farmers on their vineyard, making your holiday unforgettable. If you wish, you can take a tour through the vineyards and enjoy various tastings. Additionally, you can visit the vinegar factory on the estate, which has one of the oldest vinegar cellars in the region, relax in the garden, swim in a cypress-rimmed pool, or read a book by the open fireplace with a good glass of wine, and of course, sample from their own kitchen in the restaurant.

Roncolo 1888 is located on the ‘Strada dei Vini e dei Sappori’ (‘Road of wines and flavors’). This fantastic Italian wine route between Parma and Modena takes you through beautiful nature and regional specialties. You'll understand; it's better to take a car to this special holiday destination, so you can load the car boot with the finest products for home!

    About Roncolo 1888

Julia Presti and her husband Giuseppe, have been making award-winning organic Lambrusco, balsamic vinegar and olive oils for many years and organize tours around their domain. To accommodate the growing number of visitors and to offer them an even more intense experience, they decided to open a charming guesthouse with eleven comfortably furnished rooms, an outdoor pool and restaurant.

Modern and traditional at the same time

During your holiday at this Italian estate, you can choose from 11 rooms or suites to stay in. All of them offer views of the beautiful Italian garden, the vineyards and the adjoining nature park Roncolo. The recently renovated interior of the rooms has a contemporary look & feel, but still fits perfectly with the property and the surroundings. Roncolo offers spacious family rooms and suites designed especially for families, allowing comfortable stays for 3 or 4 people with ease.

    Organic and homemade

A delicious breakfast is served daily on the ground floor of Roncolo 1888. In the evening, you can sit down in the private restaurant or drive to one of the local starred restaurants. Cà Matilda, a one-star restaurant, is just a five-minute drive away. The three-star restaurant, Osteria Francescana, is a 40-minute drive away.

    Fine wines and balsamic vinegars
